 Stock markets have largest ever one day crash on “Black Monday”

A large imbalance rose when the New York Stock Exchange opened on Monday 19th October 1987. Pressure build-up overall to sell the stocks as well as a volume of sell orders and buy orders, placing considerable downward pressure on stock prices. On Black Monday, the DJIA fell 508 points (22.6%), accompanied by crashes in the exchanges  and options  markets This was one of the largest one-day percentage drops in the history of the DJIA

Frenchman C Hopffer patents the automatic fire extinguisher

Frenchman C Hopfer was a celebrated chemist. Before 1722, the fire was escaped with the help of water. Later in 1722, the first automatic fire extinguisher was patented in England. It consisted of a cask of fire-extinguishing liquid which had a pewter chamber of gunpowder, connected with fuses. When ignition hits, it explodes gunpowder and scatters the solution.

Streptomycin, the first antibiotic remedy for tuberculosis isolated

Walksman received Noble Prize in Physiology or medicine recognizing his discovery of Streptomycin. It was the first time an antibiotic was made against tuberculosis. It was discovered in 1943 from Streptomyces griseus. Later, it was classified as one of the most important medicines required for human health by the World Health Organization. It was the first antibiotic remedy isolated by researchers at Rutgers University.
